2006

Space Design Incorporated expanded and relocated its Philadelphia offices to spectacular newly renovated office space on the 12th floor the historic Curtis Center located on Independence Square.

2005

Radian Guaranty relocates and expands Data Center to off site location.

Space Design Incorporated provides Interior Architectural Design services for the expansion and renovation of Radian’s 200,000 SF Philadelphia Headquarters and Data Center and 15,000 SF Hotsite. Prior to signing a lease renewal at 1601 Market Street, Space Design provided preliminary “Test-Fit” Space Plans and Building Analysis for more than 10 center city Philadelphia and Suburban office buildings including a potential build-to-suit property.

  • Aida Bamford joins the firm as an Project Designer.
  • Sarah Vang joins the firm as a Project Designer – Space Measurement Services. 
2004

Space Design Incorporated provides interior Architectural Design Services for Express Close, Dayton, Ohio - a division of Radian Group. The project involves 100,000 square feet Call Center and 75,000 square feet of Data center.

2003

Quaker Chemical renovates 17 year old Lab Building.  The Quaker project includes a $6 Million “ground-up” renovation to an existing Lab Building which is also located on the former Chemical Plant site in Conshohocken.

  • Space Design Incorporated renovates offices at 210 West Washington Square, providing a more “open work environment” and a fresh new look.
2002

Quaker Chemical builds new Headquarters in Conshohocken.  We were selected to design the new corporate headquarters in the original 1929 chemical plant building with a new two story 40, 000 square foot office addition. The plant building was completely gutted and renovated including sandblasting existing wood beams and exterior brick walls.  The new office addition includes office space, a board room, and a full service cafeteria with outdoor dining facility and a wellness center.

  • Ken Bowser named Associate and Director of Space Measurement Services.
2001

O'Neill Properties selects Space Design Incorporated to provide Space Measurement Services and Tenant Planning Services for their entire portfolio of Commercial office buildings, totaling nearly 35 Buildings in the suburban Philadelphia area.

  • Susan Gray joins the firm as a Project Designer.
2000

The Philadelphia Stock Exchange expands Options trading floors.

  • Mark Todaro is named Associate and Director of Interior Design Services
1999

Harvey, Pennington, Cabot, Griffith & Renneisen, LLP relocates to 11 Penn Center. The law office space is designed by Space Design Incorporated.

1998

Miller Anderson & Sherrerd (now Morgan Stanley) expands to two additional floors in One Tower Bridge, West Conshohocken.

  • Jim Coburn joins the firm as a Drexel Co-op student.
  • Shannon Royal joins the firm as a Drexel Co-op student. 
1996

Obermayer, Rebmann, Maxwell & Hippel relocate to new offices after 67 years in the Packard Building. A traditional law office space is designed by Space Design Incorporated.

  • Renée Pepsin named Associate and Director of Tenant Planning Services.
1995

Hunt Manufacturing Company relocates to One Commerce Square. Although Space Design Incorporated had been involved in the entire Building Evaluation and Relocation process since late 1993, we were not released to begin the design process and architectural construction documents until the lease was signed on September 20, 1994. This breathtakingly fast but successful move was on budget and on time.

  • Dan Sayers joins Space Design Incorporated as a Project Designer.
1994

First Data/FPS Services selects Space Design Incorporated to assist in site selection, building evaluation and design of new headquarters. In April, 1996, they signed a lease with Liberty Property Trust for a new 72,000 square foot building built-to-suit. Space Design working closely with the Developer, redesigned the base building Office/Warehouse shell into a state-of-the-art, “high-tech -- high-touch” office and information processing facility which includes a 24 hour Data Operation Center equipped with a back up generator system as well as many employee amenities such as a exterior dining areas, shower facilities, a jogging trail, and the expansive addition of exterior glass which allows all a great amount of natural light into each work area while providing a tremendous view of a sprawling green hillside .

1990

Space Design Incorporated placed in the top 25 Interior Design Giants. Interior Design Magazines annually ranks national Interior Design firms in their 100 Interior Design Giants list.

1989

Rawle & Henderson founded in 1783, is the nations oldest continuously practicing law firm. They relocate to new offices after 40 years in the 211 South Broad Street Building. A traditional law office space is designed by Space Design Incorporated.

  • Space Design Incorporated relocates to new offices at 210 West Washington Square.
  • Angel DeElse and Jonathan Dyer succeed Anthony T. Vincent in a coup d'état.
1988

Stradley, Ronon, Stevens & Young relocate to new offices in One Commerce Square. After a six month Building Selection Process, they were faced with the necessity of opening new offices in less than ten months. Our state-of-the-art computer capabilities, advanced project management techniques and creative design skills allowed us to meet the move-in deadline and provide our client with an understated space that has proved to be a most efficient work environment. Twenty years later, they are still an active client.

1987

Miller Anderson & Sherrerd (now Morgan Stanley) relocates to West Conshohocken. Space Design provides full Interior Architectural Design services involving 50,000 SF of high-level design for this major investment management firm. Twenty years later, they are still and active client.

  • Space Design Incorporated expands again to a 100-person firm and relocates to 30,000 square feet in One Penn Square West, 30 South 15th Street.
  • Ken Bowser joins the firm as Project Manager – Space Measurement Services.
1986

Space Data Group acquires The Design Partnership, forms Space Design Incorporated and expands to a 75-person firm specializing in Interior Architectural Design.

  • Anthony T. Vincent named President.
  • Jonathan Dyer named Executive Vice President.
  • Angel DeElse named Senior Vice President.
  • Mark Todaro joins the firm as Project Designer – Interior Design division.
1984

AT&T Information Systems opens offices in four new locations in less than six months on time and under budget. Space Design Incorporated is commissioned to provide space planning and interior design services for a total of 280,000 square feet in four locations: King of Prussia, Pittsburgh, Allentown and Bala Cynwyd. The six month time period represented the operational date established by a court order after the divestiture of AT&T in 1983.

1983

The Vanguard Group of Investment Companies, needed to expand and reorganize their facility in order to respond to the changing demands of the investment business. Space Design Incorporated was selected to provide space planning and interior design services for their 120,000 square foot expansion in Valley Forge, PA.

1982

We expand our staff to 20 and relocate our offices to the ground floor of 1420 Walnut Street. After considerable research, we made the financial and professional commitment to provide each of our staff with a CADD system workstation.  As a result of our unique approach and the success gained in increased productivity and improved quality of our work, Space Design Incorporated is the first major Interior Design Firm to fully utilize Advanced Micro-CADD Systems. 

  • Richard Woltemate joins the firm as Managing Director –Computer Services division. CCS Systems was formed as a licensed AutoCad dealer and micro-computer drafting systems sales.
  • Space Data Group launches a new logo
  • Space Data Group launches Space Management Systems, a new methodology for measuring rental area in office buildings.
1981

The Philadelphia Stock Exchange [PHLX] relocates to 1900 Market Street - Space Design Incorporated designed the new floor to support open trading by providing great sightlines, the right density for market-making and cutting-edge technology. Twenty-six years later, they are still an active client.

1979

Angel DeElse and Jonathan Dyer join Space Data Group as the firm launched into the Design and Architecture business. Major projects awarded that year: Elkins, Stroud, Supplee; Clark, Ladner, Fortenbaugh & Young; and The Philadelphia Stock Exchange. We increase our staff to 10 Architects and Designers.

1978

Our first office opens on the 8th floor at 1420 Walnut Street in Philadelphia as we begin working on locating and designing branch offices for Hornblower in 45 US cities.

Angel DeElse, (as an employee of Interspace) is assigned to assist Space Data Group in providing space planning and interior design services for the Philadelphia offices of First Boston and Loomis Sales.

1975

Alec Ewing agrees to a buyout. Space Data Group is established as a 5-person firm specializing in Real Estate Advisory Services, Site Location Analysis, Space Planning and Interior Design Services.

Founded by Alexander Ewing and Anthony T. Vincent; Real Estate Advisory Group to provide Locational Economics, Site Location Analysis and Building Evaluation Services. The firm is housed within Ewing Cole offices at 400 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA.
