First Data Investors Services Group (FPS SERVICES, INC.)
King of Prussia, Pennsylvania
FPS Services, Inc. is an entrepreneurial team of 200 professionals that provide support services to the investment management industry. With roots dating to the 1930’s, FPS evolved from a transfer agent and custodian to a full service organization. The need for rapid growth and flexibility led to a build-to-suit solution in King of Prussia. The office design reflects both the high-tech data processing aspect of their business as well as the people intensive environment needed to serve their clients.
In December 1994, having out grown their existing offices on Elm Street in Conshohocken, FPS Services decided to consider a relocation. After studying their options, including several existing office buildings in the Conshohocken/Radnor area, in April, 1996, they signed a lease with Liberty Property Trust for a new 72,000 square foot building built-to-suit their specific needs. Space Design working closely with the Developer, redesigned the base building Office/Warehouse shell into a state-of-the-art, “high-tech -- high-touch” office and information processing facility which includes a 24 hour Data Operation Center equipped with a back up generator system as well as many employee amenities such as a exterior dining areas, shower facilities, a jogging trail, and the expansive addition of exterior glass which allows all a great amount of natural light into each work area while providing a tremendous view of a sprawling green hillside . By late November 1996, they were fully operational in their new facility.
Although Space Design Incorporated had been involved in the entire Building Evaluation and Relocation process since late 1994, we were not released to begin the design process and architectural construction contract documents until the township and state approval were secured in May 1996, by the Developer.
This successful move, on budget and on time, was due in great measure to FPS Services’ drive to create the most advanced operation center combined with Space Design’s innovative architectural design skills and technical capabilities.
