Coopers & Lybrand
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Coopers & Lybrand, one of the world's largest and oldest Accounting firms, retained our firm to provide complete Interior Architectural Design services for their 160,000 SF expansion and relocation to 11 Penn Center.
The Partners of Coopers & Lybrand required that their new offices reflect a professional and progressive image in keeping with its position as a leading international Accounting firm. At the same time, the firm's design goals were to create a state-of-the-art facility which functions efficiently and accommodates micro-computer and multimedia communication systems.
A universal design concept was developed which compliments the building's geometry by responding to its unique hexagonal shape. The shape established the motif used as a repeated design element throughout the space. The office planning concept incorporated the integration of professional offices and departmental support functions. Partners and Managers were positioned adjacent and accessible to each other, providing better communication links between the Audit, Tax, Management Consulting Practices and Administration services.
Design highlights include a multicolor motif of blue, rose, gray and white; cherry wood doors, trim and custom millwork; brass hardware, signage and light fixtures; and the use of arches, soffits and niches as recurring design elements.
